People who can’t see their own worth tend to treat themselves amazingly badly. They make poor choices for themselves in many areas of life because ‘good’ choices would contradict their negative view of themselves.
Good things ‘should’ come to those who deserve it, those who are ‘worth it’. If I don’t think I am worth it, I will deny myself good things I could have – and I won’t even notice that this is what I am doing.
What do you suppose happens to someone who keeps subtly cutting themselves off from good things like this? Someone who doesn’t know how to properly respect themselves?
The negative effects gradually build up, leading to general dissatisfaction and frustration with life. And then, of course, they put it down to the fact that, see, it’s true, they are worthless…
